Weekly Round Up May 1st
FOODIE:
Gotta try these Fish Tacos al Pastor! Super easy at home and feels restaurant worthy. Big hit in our house.
AT HOME:
I feel like each week I’ve been sharing some favorite beauty items but shut the front door, I got the Benefit Bene Tint that is game changing. I wanted something I could just put on with no makeup and feel like I had a little summer glow. This lip tint is my new favorite makeup product hands down.
BUSINESS:
This last year has been a sprint to delegate with my limited hours in the day. My assistant, Jenny and I sat down early in the year, and looked at all of our daily tasks and what we could pass on. We wrote a list, made a job description and within a week we had posts for a graphic design assistant, copywriter and help with my social organization. All are very part-time contractors. To find these people, I asked my friends for referrals and also did a post on UpWork with a lot of success. Feel free to reach out if you want to pick our brain about the process!
BOOKS:
One of my words this year is empathy. This week I have been listening to Deaf Utopia. I have a deaf brother and sister-in-law, so I’m aware of the deaf community’s lack of privilege in a hearing world. Listening however, has been a great reminder of my habitual ableism. We can start today to treat others with more care and patience because their story is not our own. Listening and gaining perspective of others is greatly impactful to serving your customers and community better.
TRAVEL:
The 2nd starts a sprint of 19 days I’m gone in May. I’m thankful for the opportunities I have even though being on the road can be stressful — and one of the thing I hate most is wasted time. If you have heard about CLEAR, but haven’t started using it - DO! Don’t tell the airport, but I arrive right before we board (carry-on in tow). It saves me so much time to scan a finger and cut the full security line.
