Weekly Round Up May 8th
FOODIE:
It’s easy to skip meals when you’re off a routine, but having a normal diet when you are busy helps you sustain energy and mental focus to work at 100%. My go-to is a side salad, add protein and side of fries (I mean, uh we gotta live a little!). As you are getting busier in your day-to-day life be sure you're eating every few hours.
AT HOME:
Beauty on the go needs to be as simple as possible. I am really loving the Benefit brand combo of a 24-Hour Brow Setter, Roller Lash Mascara, and Benetint Lip Tint. This trio enhances you without too much time and doesn’t rub off for long days or being on the go in the humidity.
BUSINESS:
This week has been a great reminder of how important it is to surround ourselves with people who get us. If you are in the events industry and do not have any conferences scheduled this year, I do recommend that you put some on your radar so you can plug-in, get re-energized, get encouraged, and put some focus into what you want to accomplish. Some of my favorites include:
Wedding Pro COR - Pending for Chicago in September
DJ Collective - Nashville in November
Wedding MBA - Vegas in November (Use code gokaleigh for 20% off)
If you want to stay more local, look for a local chapter of WIPA (Wedding Industry Professionals Association), ILEA (International Live Event Association), NACE (National Associations of Catering Experts, but for all event pros)
BOOKS:
When I am traveling I tend to bring along a fun fiction to give my brain a break and create some personal time. I just finished Deaf Utopia and just started Verity by Colleen Hoover. I know everyone wants to get me on the Kindle, but for fiction, I stick to Paperback.
TRAVEL:
When you have long flights or are in a circumstance where you need sleep but don’t have a lay flat option, one of the greatest gifts around is the TRTL neck pillow. A friend recommended it years ago before a trip to London and I have packed it both domestically and internationally. What I love about it is that it packs flat, has a little pocket to put an eye mask in, and you can even lay it flat amongst your clothes so you don’t have the bulk to carry on when not needed. I have even given it as gifts!
