Becoming the future you when life passes by so quickly

There are several studies and theories as to why time seems to speed by as we get older or as life gets busier. As we come out of the pandemic and life picks up pace, I have been putting thought into what I need to do on the daily to reach the version of myself I want to be in 6 months.

A time theory suggests that we actually perceive time based on new perceptual information we absorb. Essentially time feels longer when things are moving at a slower pace, and when things feel like they are speeding by, we are on auto-pilot functioning as best as we can with all the new information to process and juggling client’s needs.

Ever feel that your business is in auto drive and you are just treading water on the needs of your clients and forgetting yourself and prioritizing the business dreams you have?

Let’s talk about how to best focus on the person you want to be later this year. Most of it is putting a pulse on your goals and sticking to your boundaries with clients. I know for me my list is never ending, so I can always easily push the things I should be getting done to meet my goals with client work.

Good boundaries are both respecting yourself while respecting and planning for the needs of others — I challenge you to think about setting these intentions below and take control of the time you have each day, so the months go by with more achievements.

1. How many clients do you want to take on, or need to take on for the rest of the year?

2. How much $$$ should it take to say yes to a job?

3. Have you considered delegation? What takes are you currently doing that are not worth your time you could share with a virtual assistant?

4. What are your non-negotiable “client” working hours and days of the week?

5. What times of the week can you set appointments with yourself and work on tackling your goals?

6. Can you set one personal task and one business task to achieve per day? Chip away!

7. Have you considered a "working weekend” where you can focus on 1 big goal and achieve progress on it?

Business strategy takes time, collaborative working relationships take time, the sales process takes time - there isn’t instant gratification in our careers and it’s worth investing time in the strategy each day so the client work doesn’t bog us down and years pass before our eyes.
