5 Ways to Have More Brand Consistency

One of the most common mistakes I see my clients and small business owners make is lack of consistency between touch points of their visual brand. A visual brand consists of: logo, icon, brand colors, brand photo styles, font family, graphic design details and more. Many times, a client can’t remember your name but can remember the color and imagery you used. Remembering visuals is actually a way our brains helps us remember words and other things for a potentially indefinite period of time. Think of how children learn with photo books!

Seeing a visual brand consistently sends a subliminal message of: brand trust, more value, professionalism and transaction confidence. You want to showcase your brand in a way that is simple, unique and tells your story clearly and directly (exactly why I am such a fan of strategic design, not just pretty design).

5 Ways to Have More Brand Consistency today:

  1. Ensure you are using the same logo on all digital and printed materials

  2. Know your color codes and use the same color on screen and off-screen as much as possible

  3. Utilize that photographic memory of your clients by having the same imagery on your Facebook and other headers as you have on your website landing page

  4. Polish your email signature and use the same colors and styles of font of you have in your logo

  5. Confirm at first glance that you look like the same business at every touch point

BONUS TIP: Put together a brand guidebook and share with your team or contractors to help them see how to implement your brand constantly. This includes color codes, names of fonts, and sharing what logos you have and which is the primary.

This week, I challenge you to take a peek at your visuals this week and note areas that you could improve for consistency sake, and schedule time to get things updated!
